From Starpoint's 5th Album It's so Delicious 1983
Of all The "Star" bands from the 80's
MidnightStar AtlanticStarr
Starpoint is definitely my favorite band.

Mainly because of their (IMHO)unrivaled ballads and of course the outstanding vocals of Renee Diggs
_______

Originally they called themselves Licyndiana (made up from the first few letters of each of the group's sister's Christian names!), but soon changed it because no one could understand or pronounce it. After building a reputation on the club scene, they were signed by Casablanca (after three previous outings) in 1982 for 'All Night Long', including 'Bring Your Sweet Lovin' Back' and 'Get Your Body Up'.

Their follow-up was 'It's So Delicious' for the Boardwalk label in 1983. From here they switched to Elektra where they have scored chart success in America with-out making a major impression in the UK. Their Elektra albums have been 'It's All Yours' (1984), 'Restless' (1985), including 'Objects Of My Desire' and 'Emotions', 'Sensational' (1987) and 'Have You Got What It Takes' (1990).
Ernesto Phillips sadly passed away in 2004 as the result of a stroke.

Renee Diggs has also worked as a backing singer with artists including James Ingram and Bob James.
She recorded a solo release "Oasis" back in 1994, that finally saw the light of day in 2000 on the U.K. based Expansion label.
Renee Diggs passed away in 2005.

  • One of my fav songs by Starpoint. Had pleasure of interacting with the band at the facility where they rehearsed in Kensington, MD. Talented and humble group of people. Miss their music.

  • This was a special group. Music was excellent then.

  • was Mouse in this group?

  • Man this is a bad song bad meaning good

  • @ArchieGe

There was a hot video for "Its So Delicious" (I believe it was their first video) that use to be on youtube, but WMG (who owns much of their music) took it down like the coporate greedy assholes they are. The video was simple, yet alot of fun!

  • Isn't it strange how you sometimes only listen to a few tyracks on an album? I've had this for decades on vinyl and it wasn't until you posted ity here that I gave it another listen. More fool me! Thank you very much. Renee's voice is liquid honey.

  • @ArchieGe I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ ESSENCEOFEACHTHING: the place where Starpoint rehearsed in Kensignton, MD was called Rehearsal Spaces off Connecticut Avenue. Don't think it's there anymore.

  • @zohato

What is the name of the facility?

  • Heard the song on iTunes and instantly loved it. Starpoint can do no wrong when it comes to ballads.
