funny, my i910 beat my friend's iphone 4 on the apple website in numerous locations that he chose, clearing the cache each time. (it was awesome because we did the apple website)

PS. you should be use Opera Mobile 10, not 9.5 which is much worse:
Second you should have cleared the catche before refreshing the page. As you can see the 3GS loads the page faster the second time.

Before the Iphone came about mobile web browsing was more of just a novelty I think, it didnt really serve a purpose and it was slow and un-useful due to the very limited functionality of websites that optimized its website in to support mobile web. It was more if just a "wow, well thats preety cool." kind of thing. Then when the Iphone came about mobile web browsing really was functional and useful like it would be on any computer.
