First time really using the sawmill. So much fun. Who says there's no wood in North Dakota. Cutting up a 20 inch diameter Green Ash that was donated by some local landowners and fellow woodworkers. They said it was too nice for fire wood. I agree.

  • I've been viewing the Forestry Forum for years, but am not a member. THEY ARE GREAT! Read all the reviews on the sawmills, I actually had a list of each one, with it broken down by price etc. I found mine used, so it was about 1/2 the cost of a new one, but Turner mills out of NY, (close to you) rated right up there. As far as the heat reduction of theier air filled wheels,I'd say it was true, I put urethane bands over my cast wheels and they don't require much dripping water on the blade.

  • It should handle the wood you need to cut. It would be perfect for making a small camp, just remember that this wood needs to be dried out and Vermont is wet. The first thing I'd make is a wood shed,/greenhouse or kiln to dry the wood. You could dry the wood out in 1/5 the time.

  • Its a great saw! very strong and heavy. Use Timberwolf blades not Timberking. They are online and although a little thicker, last so much longer. The saw has cut up to 27 inch cottonwood, it was dried out not green, but the machine had not problems with it. I'm also originally from VT, so I know wood. Don't expect to work fast, but truthfully it take more time to set the log than cut it. Let me know if you need info, I love to talk bandsaws. Look on Craigslist, might get a good deal.

  • Thanks , Just wanted to ask if you have ever visited The Forestry Forum.com ? it;s a big group of folks who have mills for hobby and business. You should check out there website and join if you are not a member. I joined about a week ago and have been reading and asking questions. Tons of info. And it's free. They love talking mills and Foresrty. Thanks again

  • @SuperJamster1 Thanks Man. I have alot to learn. All of this stuff is pretty new to me. I would like to cut wood from my place to build a small cabin and shed. I would like to be able to saw up wood for projects, furniture. I don't have any specific questions yet, but I will in the future. I just got my brochures from Timber King and Woodmizer. The TK looks like a heavy duty set up. Thanks for the advice on the blades and Craigslist.

  • Looks like a nice saw. I am looking for my first mill and TK 1220 looks great. How do you like so far? Congratulations!
