But the panel of three women -- moderator Naomi Hirahara, the author of the terrific Mas Arai mystery books as well as her first book for young adults, "1001 Cranes," Cynthia Kadohata, award-winning author of books such as "Kira-Kira" for young adult readers, and Uma Krishnaswami, a South Asian author who lives in New Mexico -- ended up being about publishing in general.
