We connected a simple vibration motor, like could be in your cellphone or pager, to our Tactile Metronome kit. This makes it a fully "tactile" metronome, since you can now feel the output beats without having to see or hear the metronome.

We connected the pulse output pin from the microcontroller through a 30 ohm resistor to the motor's positive lead. The motor's negative lead was connected directly to ground. We also added a protection diode across the motor's leads, "pointing up", so that it would only conduct the potentially dangerous inductive kick when we stop supplying the motor.
