Filipino American Youth Association of Arizona (FAYA) performing Singkil @ Philippine Independence Day Celebration 2007. We Stole The Freakin Floor. Everyone loved us.

Just an FYI...if you have negative things to say, do not leave them on my comments. We are a group of 14-20 year olds who worked really hard on this dance and this was the first time we performed it.

  • Constructive criticism: requires more practice as the princess is very stiff and not graceful.

  • @tarokirl THANK YOU for pointing this obvious thing out, but their too stupid apparently to realize the true beauty of their real culture...

  • @ThtOnePinoy allow me to correct myself, it isn't arabic, I was thinking of another thing.

  • I love the oriental-arabic mix in these types of dances, especially singkil.

  • @rodelleski Yes, they are Filipinos but not actually Maranaws. Even the Visayans know this dance by heart. When we graduated in high school, we presented this dance in our graduation ceremonies. The personality of the princess was kept secret and even the rehearsals for the princess was kept secret. The guy who danced the part of the prince fell in love with the girl who danced the part of the princess when the actual dance was presented in the program.

  • few things on this vid, in general masasabi its not bad , we should be proud dahil atin ito, as ive said few things, para doon sa instructor nito , its kinda very slow ang dating , you have 6 or 7 girls at the back , but then then they never change their formation, sana you give them chance to dance sa kawayan as well, para sa ganun may rest din ang queen mo. masasabi ko is sayang dahil full cast pa naman sana.anyway , well done guys you should be proud sa sariling sayaw natin.

  • This is our cultural dance! :D

bring back our traditional culture in the philippines

and move away from our colonial days. It's time to go back to our pre colonial traditions.

  • kulang ang excavation mo day at hindi malambot ang kamay mo day kailangan magpaturo ka sa isang mananayaw na purely maranaw... hindi ako empress day.....

  • u should be proud guys!go..go..go.. pinoy!
