Ricardo Campello V111 attempting triple - he almost does it

Wild man Ricardo Campello sailed 6 heats in a row in the Gran Canaria Wave Double Elimination and becomes 3rd. As soon as the competition is over he puts on his helmet and impact wetsuit and hits the water again to give his triple forward another try.

The arena of Pozo is full of people and almost the whole wave fleet comes back from the winners announcement to watch the crazy kid from Venezuela trying to make history in the nuclear winds of Pozo.

It is super windy but unfortunately the ramps are rather small and Ricardo can't even do Double Forwards. After sailing in and out for about 30 minutes he gets frustrated and comes back to the beach. There is Antoine Albeau F192, who dominated the Slalom competition in Pozo and who has been caddying for Ricardo during the whole wave event, waiting for him. He talks to him and to the surprise of everybody Ricardo goes back out again. It looks like Antoine has been able to motivate him to give it another try. This time the conditions seem to be better and Ricardo does a few really high Doubles. On some of them he has to let go as he simply can't control things in the air. After just a few minutes he finds a decent ramp and rotates in the air like crazy. Everybody on the beach jumps up and screams. Many think he did it. It is so difficult to say as it happens within the fraction of a second. He crashed at the end and you can hardly see him as he is hidden behind the wave.
