This summer we want to remind families how great trips and holidays together can be. Our advert set to the 70s anthem 'Into the Valley' by The Skids brings to life those nostalgic, happy memories from trips and holidays of our childhood to show that the best trips can last a lifetime.

Our story follows 4 children on a summer family trip. A boy and girl from the 1970s playing with a present day brother and sister. In a time when it's easy for children to get stuck indoors on computer games, we wanted to show how easy it is to pack up, get out and enjoy the freedom of the great outdoors, whether it be a week away camping or a cycling day trip.

We are on the search for your best summer memories, whether it be a walking holiday, or just a holiday camping in your back garden, we want to hear about them. Share your memories with us on Facebook for a chance to win some great prizes!

Thank you Halfords for bringing the Skids back into our living room... great ad... brilliant band... and a genius intro from the worlds most original guitar player ;-)

yes, we had great music then :), poor kids these days having to put up with One Direction and urban crap, glad I was young then. Great advert, very nostalgic, great song by the Skids, wonderful to hear Stuart Adamson's guitar playing on TV, thank you Halford's for making my day.

Just like to echo all the thoughts below on this. I'm sure they had enough footage to put together a film for the whole song! Now that would have been something.

ugh I agree, just stick with what you like and don't let others tell you what to listen to.

Love this ad and many thanks for the memories. I was the specky kid. Running with you're mates. A time when things were good. Sharing bottles of pop and learning not to fall out of trees. Away from home, but safe with your pals. No interweb, No mobiles. No mortgage. Happy days.

C'mon - the 70s/80s kids are the parents of the modern day kids who have been taken back to their golden youth by the family holiday made possible by the bikes, tents and roof box purchased from their local Halfords. They've deliberately spread the timeframe from about '77 to '84 to maximise the connection with sentimental parents. The playing card flapper shot is genius, although I always used old birthday and christmas cards.

Brillian evocation of the late 70s/early 80s. The only thing that would have imporved it would have been an orange Raleigh Chipper like the one I had.

Why is my life as a teenager being wasted with crappy music when I could be listening to stuff like The Skids...first time I've been happy hearing an advert!!!

Well done Halfords!!! Such a brilliant video and thanks for bringing back the memories. I cannot thank you enough for evoking the 70's. Mum would take us to a campsite in the Lakes (Dad was nowhere to be seen) and we'd have the best holiday of our lives!! :-)

Been loving this advert for weeks, but only just got what it was about. I hadn't noticed the kids changing into adults thus showing the changes over the last 30 / 40 years. durrr!

Well done Halfords, has to be the best advert around for ages, (defo an awesome tune) and the playing card on the wheel, you had to be posh for that, we used ripped up cereal packets etc - Would have been even better with a Raleigh Chopper as one of the bikes. ;)
