John Piper Why Is There Evil In The World

Is it evil to allow evil to happen when you have the power to stop it? If so, then god is evil. He has the power to prevent evil, but he refuses to intervene, even when helpless children waste away from cancer. Once a small child fell in a pool and couldn't get up. I reached down and pulled him out - I'm no hero, ANYONE would have done that. Anyone, except for the god who has the power, but not the will to prevent evil and suffereing.

Lets say you are right God is the author of evil .But you have to admit too God also prevents and saves from evil.Consider God being evil there would be more cancer and drownings inumerable. But in fact there are more children healthy than not. And more children should drown than do.You described that you are not unique you would be a better God.But God is not moral like us but Virtue and Virtue is where we get our morals.One last thing, fear God. If He has this power you describe,fear Him!

With all due respect to John Piper (who has said some good things at times), Calvinists make things more complicated then they really are.

The evil in this world exists because we have the power of choice. And since faith is NOT a work, this means that merely choosing does not give us a reason to boast (as Calvinists imagine).

Umm, right. You would have to be completely brainwashed to keep from laughing throughout this entire video which is void of anything that could be considered sensible. There is evil in this world because there no god. Look at how vicious mother nature is. Your bible is filled with vague and contradicting statements that do nothing more than confuse readers into giving up trying to make sense of things, so they plead ignorance and throw their thoughts into the hands of a "loving protector."

While this is true, he forgot to say the suffering was to glorify God by glorifying the Son. His suffering did indeed display the holy and righteous savior side of God.

If there was no evil in the world, then why would there have to be a savior?

What greater love is there than to lay down one's life for one's friends? Now how about for one's enemies like Jesus did.

Spiritual truth is discerned by the Spirit of God, who either lives within you and is saving you or does not. If He does, then He must be loved and hearkened unto. I assure you, this man does. Surely, this message is true.

The Bible itself says God created evil ("I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."--Isa. 45:7). Genesis 2 says the tree of knowledge of good and evil existed in Eden before Adam and Eve interacted with it, implying that evil existed from the beginning. And God pronounced it good.

There's evil in the world because of evil people. If we would all choose to love God things would be beautiful. Christ died to bring us back to God. Evil and Terror aren't there by design so Christ would have to suffer. He suffered because they were there, because we made it that way! This guy is way off base.

the influence of satan...sin entered the world and corrupted everything God had purposed. God is not wicked. and He hurt when this happened Genesis 6:5-6. Jehovah-God, God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob- Creator of the Universe..does NOT want his children to be in pain. He loves us so much he gave us the only hope - the only answer to the horrible world we live in.
