Barack Obama on Bill Clinton being black

Barack Obama was asked this question at the South Carolina debate recently, and at the end of his answer, he stated this.
All I did was take out the other part of his answer, I did not edit it in any other way.

That was the perfect response. He fielded it without embarrassing whites or blacks.

Note: he poked fun at one of the black cliches that was complementary, but did not go into basket ball, or watermelon. You can tell that Edwards wasn't quite sure where he was about to go, and had an objectionable look building on his face.

Why this had to be a topic I'll never understand. But the President seems to know just what to say to neutralize the obvious potential volatility of loaded racial questions.

I think a better response would have been to turn to Hillary and say "Hillary, you've had sex with him, so maybe you're better equipped to answer the question."
