Finally found some time to play bass, so I thought I'd upload something nice and simple. This is the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Soul to Squeeze, off their greatest hits album (and originally a b-side on singles from Blood Sugar Sex Magik). It's basically a verse riff and a chorus riff, both fairly easy, with which Flea plays around and adds little decorations, especially in the final chorus.

And before anyone points it out, I know the breakdown section is supposed to be slapped and popped, but I'm still getting the hang of it and it sounds fine fingered imo.

Not that anyone will tell the difference but this was recorded with my new practise amp, a tiny Laney HCM 15W.

All comments, song requests and questions much appreciated, and apologies to all of my subscribers for the wait.

  • So the breakdown part after the guitar solo is slap but other than that you did an ok job

  • @pjfitz111 Yep, I Tried It, Great Sound.

For Me, Though, As I Am A Funk Player.

  • awesome cover dude!

  • do you mind sending me those taps too

  • Good job.

  • The bass used in this video is an Epiphone Thunderbird, they aren't very good for slapping although on the right amp with the right settings it's not so bad. I'd reccomend the fender Jazz bass, warwick or the music man stingray if you want to replicate Flea. He's my fav!

  • do you mind sending me the taps for this song

  • is this bass good for slappin and poppin?
