  • Hi Guys!

I've read most of the commentary and I plan on signing up with the FIRST internet fan club i can .The year was 1998 and I was at some bodies 99 cent store and low and behold I found this 'cassette' of Lena Horne music . It fell apart 21 days later from My playing it 24/7. WHHYYY my local jazz station never played it I'll never comprehend. Yet the one woman Broadway show certainly proved she was indeed a JAZZ SINGER!

  • @88Habitrabbit1 NO< Lena was a pop singer, not a jazz singer. I'll bet she was very pissed when they wrote she was a *jazz singer.*

  • @lenahorneclub But she was definitely influenced by jazz tho. And her 90s albums for Blue Note were probably the closest she ever came to being a jazz singer.

  • @butterlop 100% correct. Lena never sang jazz, she was a pop singer for the most part.

  • When one thinks of the song Stormy Weather, one thinks of Lena Horne...It's hers!...She owns it! Judy Garland couldn't carry that song across your room!

  • Stormy weather belongs to LENA! Certain songs just belong to certain artist, Patti Labelle could sing circles around Judy Garland but Someday over the rainbow belongs to JUDY!

  • Lena Horne lookslike my mom

  • @44joints Thank u

  • @coolsweetgroovy ,,, You have a beautiful Mom!!

  • @leplaq Ethel didn't get along with many people within her own age or younger then her. She was the first diva back then and the first famous bitch in show business. Ethel was great but she was something else. She insulted Billie Holiday and Valaida Snow too.

  • @ChuckMonsey Yes, one thinks of Lena, but it was Ethel Waters song

  • no trees would grow where she hath trod

    yes!!

  • @lenahorneclub Anytime a person has to work 2'ce as hard to get 1/2 the credit of his or her white counterpart, he/she is being victimized & held to a different standard. To be a victim means to b subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment. It does not have to b a permanent position in life. However, it is not only dishonest but it is naive & damaging to future generations when those who have survived such harsh treatments choose to redefine their xperiences based on pride & arrogance!
