@indhold there's a connection in that these were people and places that helped inspire Salinger to write the book in the way that he did, and possibly helped shape the way he thought about the world.
To a lot of people that is interesting, worth looking into, and more intellectually rewarding then just stomping your feet and saying "they're not exactly the same so why should we care?"

i've never been to this place but when they go outside it's not that different to how i imagined it to be while reading the book.
