I think that the issue that arises from research whaling is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of control into which species are hunted. In 2009, DNA tests from Japanese fish markets selling whale meat confirmed that they have been hunting threatened and endangered species like Blues, Greys, Humpbacks, and Fin whales among others. But we need to address overfishing as a whole, not just pick one group of animal to get huffy puffy about. Most tuna species are threatened, sharks, cod, king crab..
