2003 P71 crown victoria, catback magnaflow exhaust 2.5" piping with 3.5" 22" long tips fully welded with X-pipe, 3.73 gears, K&N cold air and Bob Kurgan custom tune
it was definitely noticable, i mean its not like a MAJOR improvement but you can feel it. top speed wasnt effected too much, some might not even notice it especially with a good tune which you need every time you jump 2 gear sizes
are 3.73 gears funner to drive than the 3.27's? was the acceleration big difference? i'm only 18 but one day i want to try different rear ends so bad! the top speed isn't effected to much is it?
lol, i never had 2.73 gears but before i got the 3.73 gears installed i did have the 3.27s which came stock. yea you can definitely feel the increase in acceleration, its nice! the only thing is the MPG and top speed suffer a little because of the higher RPMs at higher speeds with bigger gears.
ok, thanks for clearing that up with me! deffinatly believe you who tunes his vic all the time compared to a 16 year old kid who knows nothing lol. have you ever used 2.73 gears, and 3.27's or 3.55's? what's the acceleration and speed differences in those?
not the 98-04 GTs were all 4.6 SOHC 16valve V8. police cars usually come with 3.27 or few come with 3.55s. highest the LX sport versions come with are 3.27 and the LXs usually come with 2.73 gears. the tunning is not really more agressive either just a little bit adjusted for shift points and bigger gears. NONE of the police cars were EVER supercharged and there is no such thing as a cop chip. those are rummors, nobody even makes a bolt on supercharger kit for a crown vic.
oh, ok. but mustang gt's were 5.0 liters i thought? and the police cars have higher gear ratios and more aggresive tuning than the civilian models? or the other way around? i heard police car models were all supercharged, is that true? is yours supercharged?
the engine in the police car is the same engine found in the lincoln towncar, the civilian crown vics, and the mustang GTs, o and the mercury grand marquis. there is nothing diferent about it other than higher gear ratio and a slightly more agressive tuning. HP rating is about 230 for pre 04 years and about 245 for 04+ years. but that is factory soo you are looking at about 200hp to the wheels when you actually buy it after wear and tear
yea im thinking either torktech or eaton setup for the ride. all depends on the money situation...they are NOT cheap

try trilogy motorsports...they make superchargers for the marauder, and i've seen their kit put on vics, too. :)

yeah, especially 2.73 to 3.73! what about the acceleration at a roll? like say a freeway acceleration? does it still pull hard?
