INTRO!
Now HolOska is up to bat. I capitalized the second "O" in holOska because all this time I've been pronouncing it HolAska lol it only took me like...2 years to realize the second O....ANYWAY! Holoska is based off of Alaska so obviously theres lots of snow, ice, and snow animals....FOR NOW!!! (GLOBAL WARMING!!)

THE STAGE!
After looking at my most recent stages I found that there wasn't a whole lot of stuff in the stage compared to Apotos (which was filled with houses and trees). I wanted to change that so I focused on adding stuff to the stage. Due to Alaska's environment I was able to add things like animals and glaciers to the stage. I also made the stage like a maze so instead of just holding RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT, its now RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT. and I think thats kinda cool.

STAGE MAKING PROCESS!
OK about the stage making process. This stage took me FOREVER to finnish. This was actualy the second stage I started making (right after Apotos) but I stopped making it because I wanted to get at least one stage finished before I started making more just in case I made any drastic changes to anything I wouldn't have to go back and change/delete any stages that didn't fit the new engine. I thought putting all stages on a hiatus other then Apotos was a good Idea..........except the fact that right after I made that decision I started Shamar, then I started Spagonia, and then Empire City, then I finished Shamar, then I started and finished Adabat, then I started to do HUBS, cutscenes blah blah blah blah blah AND THEN I finished Apotos which was the test stage that I wanted to finish FIRST.....phew.....Anyway I finally got Holoska done and I'm glad that I put it off for so long because the way I had it planned out in my head kinda sucked lol.

WHATS NEW!
It seems like there really isnt a whole lot new in holoska which is good because it meens that my engine is getting closer to being finnished, however there are a few things that are new here

* Game Maker 8 has just been released and along with it comes a new sprite editor and the ability to add opacity. I. WENT. CRAZY. with opacity and now everything is transparent such as the boost bar and the boosting sprite

* The EXP bar now only shows up when it increases like the 360/PS3 version

* There is now a FLASH when you do the boost... pretty cool effect

* Snow boarding

*no "red blocks" (I think)

* Weather (snow)

*results screen now gives you a grade, chip joins in, and sonics animation changes depending on the grade

*Better looking explosion when you run into a robot

* Lives now increase when you get 100 rings

* Shield box thing....(destroy surrounding enemies in order to break the box, you know the deal)

* WHAAAAAAAAAALEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!1111 (one) (one) (one)

    I thought you were one of those kids that usually gets on GMC after programming for like 5 years and still cant do shit XD

  • @VoltageEntertainment Right now I've been programming for a little more than a year. When I made this vid I was only programming for about 3 1/2 months.

  • @gumman It's already done. It supports angle changing according to terrain, and it has partner select. Here's a protip douchebag: There's a piece of code called image_angle(). Try it sometime. Oh and mine has physics.
