Memphis Minnie (June 3, 1897 -- August 6, 1973) was an American blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. She was the only female blues artist considered a match to male contemporaries as both a singer and an instrumentalist. She was active from the 1920s to the 1950s.
@inkey2 - yes, and I hope she'd take it as a compliment. If you check out her body of work you'll find she is a driving rocker and swinger. I just love her. She was playing in the 20's through to the 50's. Classics like this were in general recorded in the 30's or 40's. THE BLUES HAD A BABY AND THEY NAMED IT ROCK N ROLL!
