Most people in Corporate America are tired. Theyre overworked, abused, and trying to survive in a hostile environment. They realize Corporate America doesnt provide the satisfaction they really want, but they spend most of their waking hours there. They havent yet grasped the possibility that work could be totally different.
But before we talk about that, lets take a closer look at the problem. Do any of these symptoms sound like your workplace?
•Strong blame orientation and self-promotion
•Abusive language
•Significant, unpredictable changes in direction by management
•No ownership in the process and feeling unheard
•Micro-management and authoritative style
•Withholding information from other departments
•Management views training and development as an expense instead of an investment
•Excessive rumors and backbiting

If this describes your workplace, I have good news for you. It can be different. We have been implementing a training system at a test site that has radically changed the corporate culture AND radically improved the financial bottom line. When this company was bought 5 years ago it was worth 10 million. Now its worth 200 million. The increase in value and productivity is directly related to changing the corporate culture.

Ligaya:

Ive been at this company for 15 years, and Ive seen the culture transformed from a typical brutal corporate environment to a place where I love to come to work every day. I used to experience a lot of anxiety at work, I felt like I could never let my defenses down. But after we implemented the Servant Leadership Institutes training, the culture began to change. Now we have so much synergy among us, because were all working for the same purpose and really working as a team. I love it!

Tony:

Many companies make their decisions based on a financial bottom line. But this is actually counter productive. When people feel like utilities, like cogs in a wheel, they dont perform at peak levels. But when employees feel valued, when their worth as people is recognized and their dignity is preserved, we see improvement in the financial bottom line. The company makes more money when employees work harder because they want to. The company saves more money when employees care about their jobs and about efficiency. The company increases productivity when people are invested in a mission statement that makes a difference in the world. And the company cuts costs when employees apply themselves to find new efficiencies because they care about their jobs and their co-workers.

Brian Lundberg:
Since weve started implementing the practices described in Tonys book, weve seen a 53% increase in productivity. Thats unheard of in Corporate America. But it happened here because Tony has unlocked the secret to motivating workers. Hes worked with 75 of the Fortune 100 companies, and has seen companies at their very worst and their very best. Hes helped us at this company become our very best.

Tony:
Human beings function best when they have a mission and a purpose in life. My mission is to help companies and organizations not settle for so little, just living for the financial bottom line. My goal is to help companies discover that when they design their organization for the sake of others, to make a difference in the world, theyll experience abundance in their financial returns, their working relationships, and their personal lives.
