As the American Psychological Association considers whether or not to include Relational Illness/Relationship Disorder as a new mental health diagnosis to be included in the DSM book--each of us can take the necessary steps of protecting our own mental healthy by mindfully monitor the impact of our relationships on our overall well being. Is his energy toxic? Does her behavior cause you stress? Are you uncomfortably anxious when you have to be in their company? Are you conveniently staying in what you know is just not good for either of you? OR, does his presence put you in a peaceful space? Does her words inspire you to wanna grow? Are you both able to equitably celebrate and value one another? Ultimately, are you better or worse off as a result of the intimate, close relationships you currently have?
