The reward vs. cost for public education is just not there. On average, public education costs $14,000 PER child PER year. That is $150,000 for a high school education. The public school systems are a disgrace & need to be completely overhauled based on merit pay only. It is coming, once people have to vote for money for either medicare/social security or education - education will lose.
