  • What year is this one. 1998-2002 are rated 220 hp, 2003-2011 are rated 239 hp.

  • @Astromchaser 2002

  • 8 seconds is decent, but the main appeal to these cars is that they last forever.

I'm sure a couple of aftermarket parts will make it even faster if that's what you want. What I'm getting at is I'd rather have a car that lasts forever that I can upgrade later on, than have a car that's fast but not so reliable.

I'm looking at you Cadillac. Especially with those Northstars. Fast, but good luck reaching 150k miles.

  • True you can always make a car faster but you can't make them reliable.

  • Yeah I agree as well, I mean consider this, a town car, is a 4,000 pound sedan, that is some big weight to be pushed down the road by a small 8 cylinder engine and to get to 60 in 8 seconds thats damn good. Town cars are classy as shit. One of my favorite cars.

  • And to think Northstars are "non serviceable" engines. Once they go bad, they go bad. I've seen those engines reach about 225k miles before biting it... but not many of them get that high.

  • sounds just like a crownvic

  • @kenneykole, I wouldn't dare saw a Town Car rides better than a Cadillac, unless of course you're comparing it to a FWD Cadillac and as we know, FWD sucks cornerning no matter what car it is.But a typical life of a Town Car is to be used as a limo for the first 300k-400k, a taxi for another 100k or so, then sold cheaply to someone for another 100k and sold for scrap metal.

  • @roundtopsk84eva, the 95-96 roadmasters were quite a bit faster, not much of a race. But the 93-94, with a lower output engine? I'm not so sure. If this 2002 can hit 60 in 8 seconds (all tests claim the faster 2003 took 9.5 so I'm not so sure this is timed correctly, or "stock"), the 93-94 roadmasters were upper 8s, stock so figure out who wins

  • @MrNotorius5500 whoever told you Northstars are non-servicable engines is completely full of shit. I've seen a few rebuilt ones, and I've seen a few that have hit 400k even without any issues. Not neglecting service, most importantly radiator fluids, and Northstars will run forever. Same can be said for ANY other engine designed in the same era. And Northstars made in the 2004 model year or later do not have any of the old issues anymore.

  • @CsalbertCs, like any car, if you change your radiator fluid in a Northstar every 5 years, you won't have any issues pretty much guaranteed.

  • @roundtopsk84eva can you make a video of your towncar?

  • the Ford panther vehicles are so reliable, you see so many of them on the road.

  • @crammage road masters have 5.7 and lincolns have 4.6. so ya i think the road masters are faster, i just love these big cars, im going to try and soop my 95 TC up as much as my thin 16 year old wallet can afford. it has 196xxx miles. going to freshen it up.
