Health insurance reform hits home for a Franklin County Family facing a $20-thousand medical bill. Doctors say the procedure would give a six year old girl a bright, healthy future. But the insurance company has said "no."
The family says the clock is ticking, and the little girl is running out of options and time. She's on the verge of never hearing again, but her insurer won't pay for the surgery that can correct it.

I have two Deaf children and they are advanced in academics because of American Sign Language (ASL). They don't hear at all and they still make a fine progress. I just hope that this girl will get to meet other Deaf children and enjoy the interaction using ASL. Being bilingual has its bonuses. It increases IQ points, cognitive skills, reasoning, logic and critical thinking skills. I am also a teacher of the Deaf so believe me how using ASL will make a difference and bring happiness to the Deaf.
