That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. It sounded like McCoy Tyner or Herbie sitting in with the Beach Boys. Surfers would probably come after you with pitchforks and torches, but I dug the bizarre creativity.
Exactly...thousands of jazz players have a hive or college guy mentality...too much improv has lost it's edge or outsideness...it's just dull, middle class music music that isn't enriching the scene very much.
I was there in since the 1950s through 'Trane and Miles and Mile's fusion and classical too...so, you're right, it's an odd blend here.... BOTH surfers and jazzers now have their pitchforks out...I love that
