Finnish interview to Lauri Ylönen from Metro Live ;)

TRANSLATION:

This is "Hakis" hall, Hakaniemi hall. I wanted to come here to shop my foodstuff because I come here something like a couple of times in a month. You should book enought time, you don't make it in just one hour, usually. There are lots of people in lines. And while shopping you discuss about different cheeses and different origins of cucumber and when that fish has been taken away from that sea.

It's a little different compared to a normal visit in a super market, it's really nice because you kind of get to know these people who run their shops here, the atmosphere is very friendly.

I don't know the names, but there's an old man down there who has the smallest shop. I kind of want to give him symphaty. He is very friendly and greets me from long distance when I come there. I'm like "what should I do for meal today" and he's like "Well here we have some fresh burbot, guys brought it this morning!" And then he skins it for me and tells how to do that soup.. Amazing spirit of happening.

I use organic products as much as possible, even like from these normal shops, big markets, you can now find those quite well from vegetable section. And some meat too.
But in this hall we have own kiosks for organic products. I like to prefer organic stuff but I'm not all about it, I use other produccts too. But if I can choose, I take that organic one.

Fish food and fishing has been an important thing in my childhood and it's all showing up again.. well, we used to go out to these same waters with my grandpa. I have really amazing memories from there. In the midnight when the closed season of zander ends, 20 boats leave the port. Then you troll till 6 am and return to grandma with a big draught and she makes the best soup ever! Now I'm waking that kind of thing alive again because I bought a boat this summer. All the guys of the band have already told they're coming fishing with me. Feels good.

Rice is maybe the invincible food. I get this desire, "I have to get some!" I don't know, it's just like... well steamed, for ex. basmati rice, it is so great.

Today I prefer simple tastes and taste experiences. Like some well cooked carrot with salt can be very good.

  • the finnish people are so different from US. i mean, a guy like Lauri, black coat, spiky blone hair walks through a store, and gets stared at by EVERYone. in finland, everyone just looks like they except it. of course, he is a famous rockstar. but still

  • Thanks for the translation :) and thanks for uploading. Lauri is soooo cute!
