"Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Performed by the South German Philharmonic.

The lyrics were originally a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in the 18th century and adapted by Beethoven for the 4th movement of his 9th symphony.

  • Makes you proud to be German.

No, scratch that, makes you proud to be human.

  • Isn't it amazing that even after all these years, this man's music is still loved across the world? It brings people from all different music tastes, as we saw in the comments. A metal fan, a classic rock fan, myself a techno fan, and probably many others. This music is truly amazing, and will most likely be appreciated ong after songs of our own day die out and are not heard anymore.

  • Absolutely beautiful.Always brings me to tears. Thanks for posting with the lyrics. I am going to see the Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus( in 2 weeks) and I wanted to go over the lyrics with the music!! Thanks again!

  • @ConservativeLogic 3:40 is my favorite part--despite the fact everybody else seems to love the full-choir fortisimo repeat of the first verse right after. :-) Definitely better pump-up music that most rap!

  • From the 9th to murder rap. We have come a long way.

  • March at around 3:40. Chills! Brilliant.

  • the translation is not very accurate.
