Back out to Yellowstone for some wolf watching again. I did some "digiscoping" with my Carl Zeiss 85mm scope and a Nikon Coolpix P2. This clip is from February 9, 2007 - In this clip, the pack is making their way along the Lamar River from east to west. This footage is shot at a pack rendevous point. We actually got to see some very strong pack socialization including a complete group howl (did not get that on film). Notice a young grey wolf learning subordination at the tooth and claw of an older[?] black wolf. Shortly after I zoom in on the two of them, the black wolf roles the grey wolf over and then as it stands up again, the black wolf puts a "bite" on the grey wolf's back and flips it to the ground again.

  • Hey mate, those wolves were playing, if they were trying to prove which was alpha you would have seen blood.

  • For sure. Wolves often play like this as a way of socializing and/or pups practice dominating behaviors that they may use under more serious pretense later in their lives...

  • I just hope and pray the wolves will be saved.

  • Indeed do I. I have never seen a wolf in person (Not even at the zoo, pathetic I know) These are one of the most beautiful creatures ever created

  • @wolfpuppy77 Indeed do I*

  • @wolfpuppy77 Indeed I do makes no sense as a syntax if reply to the wolf251982's comment. Also, wolves weren't created. They evolved just like you and I did.

  • @sheepsfoot2 gaah i HATE coyotes

  • i love them but ive never seen one V_V

  • I seen a documentarie called wolves of yellowstone about a wolf that they just called black wolf it showed his entire life so R.I.P Black wolf

  • Unfortunately, the strong desire to hunt, working together as a unit and kill, is more important to a wolf and their social structure, than waste the better part of an animal such as an elk, which for now seem plentiful.

  • whatever you guys support having wolves or not...they re-introduced wolves because ...they provide an important balance in nature... for one...they keep the coyote numbers down....that's got to...help farmer"s too.

search Wolves v Coyote....you will see what i am talking about.....

  • RIP Druid Pack....

  • Wolves are generally portrayed as vicious killers and a threat to humans. Wolves are timid when it comes to people so unless it was rabid you can be sure no wolf would come near enough to hurt you. Beware of bears and mountain lions though :)

  • Aw. You sound like a little child. Isn't that cute?
