my take on the video is the girl is like her child like innocence as she goes threw life. i do love how Alela looks like a old time Hollywood Star with the scarf and the old Mercedes. just love watching how her videos have grown as she has grown musically. so much more refined etc. that is my 2 cents worth anyway for what is worth. really enjoy all of her music.
@redjameskidd I honestly don't see your problem. This has a story arc, beautiful photography and a fitting theme. That's more that can be said for 95% of videos out there. Also can visuals *ever* add anything to vocals?! I don't think that's how it works.
I love Alela and her music, but I don't really understand the point of the few videos they've made. People standing solemnly in nature. A ghost girl. It's all so rote. It doesn't add anything to the beautiful vocals, for me.
I'd rather see them actually in action, performing the song, or something like that. Still, I guess this is better than the "Desire" video, which is like 50% just an extreme face closeup. Still I'd rather see more HD live concert video; put these cameras to good use.
Why I do believe in an interview Alela says that this song is about a friend who died. Hence the lyrics about death.

I like how the girl just follows her around like a stalker.
I like the break around 2:00 - learn to lose / death is a hard act to follow

This is so deeply inspiring and touching. As the entire Wild Divine album is.
