@stoianovm i have tried haldex4,and it´s the same bad driving as haldex2..most of the time the rear wheels don´t moved at all..i can´t drive it in deep mud and deep snow at all!!!bad as haldex 2!!!!!
@stoianovm my subaru was a coupe´ named Legacy,if i remember correctly...it had no controls for diffs, but worked very well although... the car was 2WD,but if I get stucked I pushed a button on gear shaft and than the 4WD drive was engaged, and the car continued forwards in deep snow..that can NEVER IN THE WORLD haldex do!!!!!not even haldex 4,i think..!!
@bollhane The space here is not enough! My e-mail is: stoianovm@abv.bg we can continue there.I love the snow and 4x4 drive :).I've read a lot for all 4x4 systems nad have tested most of them. The best sofar is Audi's Torsen central diff combined with ESP!I'm talking about stock cars.I'm not mentioning Impreza WRX STI-this is complitely different world where you can control the stage of engagement of all 3 diffs by buttons in the pit :) :)
@stoianovm thanks for information!!i have no ESP at all on my octavia from 2004... i once had an octavia 2WD from 2006,and there was this kind of ESP that you mentioned..i have learned a lot from you..please write more if you want to..!!!i live in Sweden and we had lot of snow last year..!!!
Yes,that is what the button shows-ESP.What actualy happens when the button is off-it switches off the traction control(i.e. switches off reduction of the fuel to the engine). In the same time the ESP continues to apply brake force to the wheels which tend to spin(it can apply brake force on 3 wheels at a time). This is similar to front and rear diff lock.My Defender has only rear diff lock, that's why on the tests on snowy and icy road Haldex4 performs better. In deep snow the height matters.
@stoianovm thanks for advice..as i have understand, your car had ESP ON in this movie..?.it was going better WITHOUT ESP if I understand correctly?in your movie, the car was stucked very easy...that Subaru I owned had snow over the front but the car get not stucked..although it was a sportscar who was low under.. however, your car is better with ESP OFF??
@bollhane I also like Subaru very much! But the difference between Haldex2 and Haldex4 is realy big in performance.Haldeh2 engages only after some ofe the weels spins at 45degrees-it's sometimes a little late.I've been driving Octavia with Haldex2 and it behaves better than the cars with front wheel drive, but can not compare with Haldex4.It engages before some of the wheels to spin, based on torque and position of the trottle even on dry surface. If you have a chance try once and will see.
@stoianovm your Defender must be good..otherwise you should not use it in trial competitions...! the Subaru i had could go through snow up to the whole front of the car.. my haldex is generation 2... in wet snow it is worthless...like haldex 4.. even in light snow, the car is not going good..
I have differen opinion and experince. This is haldex 4 on my car and when the ESP is OFF it performs perfectly(better than my Land Rover Defender with diff lock on the rear diff). All 4 tyres spin together and it stops only when the whole car is lifted from a lot of snow below-in this case everyone would stop :)I have a lot of experience with 4X4 as I take part in trial competitions with my Defender :)
@stoianovm the haldex system is not good at all..i have an octavia 4¤4 and the system gives up after driving a few meters..in wet snow I can´t drive one meter!!!I had a subaru-87 and that car was outstanding in deepest snow..i was nearly to buy a Scout, but after seeing this, I doubt...the haldex system is worthless!!!
