  • Does anybody know if the laser combs or in home laser helmets/hoods really work?

  • @Lynnmist Thank you for your question about the laser combs and hoods. Laser therapy is NOT a miracle cure for hair loss because it will not regenerate hair follicles that are dead and gone. However, laser therapy makes the hair follicles grow thicker, stronger hair. For those with hair loss, this can restore a significant amount of coverage. LaserCap is the first at-home laser therapy device which is cordless, rechargeable and discreetly fits under your hat.

  • Hello Dr bauman, I'm 23 years old (norwood class II) I bought a hairmax comb in december for my receiding hairline, have been using it as instructed for 4 and a half months now, I've noticed no real difference with my hair, other than on the temple area the hair is turning a very light blond (my hair is black) thus I'm guessing my hair is still receding as it's being affected by dht. Seems odd to me that I continued to lose my hair..

  • @valiantfocker Laser therapy is certainly no miracle cure, but it has been shown to help grow hair thicker and healthier. Your hair loss might be slowing down, but still progressing somewhat. Did you take any tracking photos? The hairline is the most difficult area to treat with laser therapy because there are fewer hair follicles there to begin with so laser will have less of an effect. Have you considered in-office treatments with clinical laser or prescription Propecia?

  • @uranorexic No, the LaserCap is not a large machine. The LaserCap fits under a standard baseball hat and its rechargeable battery pack is about the size of a deck of cards. You can see some pictures of it at lasercap[dot]info. There are also a few youtube video reviews out there on the LaserCap...

  • @uranorexic You might be right, but some users get substantial improvement in their hair with small low-level lasers. The new LaserCap, however, has 224 diodes at 5mw and it's cordless, rechargeable, hands-free so it's easier to use than the others you describe. Some patients have been using the LaserCap for more than eight months and are liking it. Since it fits under your hat, it's easier to use than a brush or comb. When patients are compliant, they get results.

  • Hi, Dr Bauman, would I be able to use this in combination with rogaine?

  • @alanbauman Thanks for the reply Dr Bauman, I started taking finasteride I'm on it EOD, do you have an opinion on taking it EOD or do you believe that the drug should be taken each day? I'm 3 weeks in and no side effects.

-I should note, that with the hairmax, i noticed small blond miniature hairs growing near my hairline, but I worry since it seems my temples are thinned out since i began treatment (shedding?)... I know I need to see a specialist to get the best answer. Thanks for your replies

  • yeah lorettab7 mr Master expert of the universe who knows it all. who has credential to talk about this subject.

  • Get yourself a violet ray (based on old Tesla coils), save money AND really grow hair. This looks like an infomercial. South Florida news has sunk to an even lower low!
