Like any given afternoon in the Sterling-Cooper-Draper-Price creative department, you know there's going to be some modeling going on when you're dealing with Line 6. In this case, we're talking about live mic capsules; the Line 6 XD-V70 Digital Wireless microphone system includes a mic-transmitter that does spot on impressions of an SM58, Beta58, OM5, N/D767 and more. (We recommend listening to this video with headphones to hear all the subtle difference of each model.)
Line 6 rep Don Boomer auditions these various models for us, along with a model that the folks at Line 6 came up with that represents their take on the perfect live vocal mic—one with a frequency response that would be practically unachievable in the mechanical (i.e. "real") world. Don also talks a bit about the benefits of both the XD-V70 and XD-V30 packages from a wireless systems planner's point of view.
Great to see a demo of the modeling feature.
