  • When mentioning "Hydrogentated Oils" you show a picture of a block of butter but it's my understanding that butter is not hydrogenated whereas Margerine & other processed spreads are. I think butter , though containing cholesteral , is a natural product. Whether it's actually good for you I don't know but it sure tastes great.

  • @theselector Moderate amounts of the saturated fats in butter are good for you, especially for your brain... You are right about margerine... it's terrible!

  • Great information! thanks! :)

  • Not sure if all those oils you said are healthy.

    Look up "Linoleic acid inflammation"

  • @AppleSouffle It's simple really. Less fruits in fall and winter=hunting for food. It worked out perfectly. That is of course until we had the ability to eat meat every day. A feat mind you that was only possible for the masses during the last 60 years or so. Which also happens to be when the Obesity rates started to climb.

  • @AppleSouffle Really? Am I wrong? Are you sure about it? How fat are you?

First off. Humans aren't Leopards, Cheetahs, or wolves. If you are going to compare us to anything compare us to chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans. But as humans went further and further from the equator we ate more and more meats in the fall and winter months. Simply because we needed to be fatter and have more energy to regulate body temperature in the cold. Fat has twice as many calories as carbs.

  • The question is - What actually happens to excess animal fats that we eat? They don't make us fat, but what happens to them?

And we know this from tribes such as the Masai. They eat a high fat diet of milk, meat and blood. If eating animal fats made us fat, then they would be portly, but they're tall and slim.

  • Danie123182, that is exactly wrong. The only animals that get fat when it's not a survival advantage are humans, our pets and domesticated animals that eat lots of grains, such as cows.

Why don''t leopards, cheetahs and wolves get fat? If fat makes us fat, it should make them fat too.

  • Fat does make you fat. That's why you don't eat too much of them. It's when you eat TOO MUCH FAT that you become fat. Look up durianrider on youtube and tell me if you think he's full of shit. That guy is skinny as hell and tells you exactly how he got skinny.

  • This video says to avoid transfats by avoiding things that say hydrogenated but what people should really be looking for is partially-hydrogenated. That's the big one. Other than that if it says shortening as an ingredient then it's likely to contain transfat.
