This modality targets the fast twitch muscle fibers, emphasizing hip flexion, while maximizing genetic potential.

Overspeed training is a vital, yet individual component of true speed development.

This must be combined with the 7 Components of Speed Development.

1. Speed Efficiency
2. Appripriate Energy System Development
3. Resitance Training
4. Plyometrics
5. Relative Range of Motion
6. Overspeed Training
7. Power Nutrition

Each of these components play an intregal role in the total athletic development of the sprinter. Training progressions shift from simple to complex, singular to multiple joint movements, and base-to-power-to-speed phases.

see "Speed Training & Power Development" for additional modalities.

  • usian bolt's top speed is 30mph.. and averages around 23 over 100m.. 20mph for 6 sec might not even net a sub 10s 100m

  • I can run faster :)

  • how did he get off??

  • is that tyson gay?

  • @decaDBZ seriously you don't know what your talking about just stay quiet

  • @josshinator hahaha I Robot

  • 20mph isn't that fast

  • Because all I read is bullshit...no one said that this guy is running almost 9s/100m or that he is flying. He trains himself and this is a technique he is using so that the muscles can get used to this speed.And.....Daaaaa you can't hold it for more than few seconds!!

  • he never said thaat he ran 9.09, he is saying that the speed of the treadmill is at 20mph which is the same is 9.09meters per sec, simply trying to hold that speed for 12 secs, so that the muscle n nerves can remember that it cud move that fast

  • @LightningApox he forgot to put "cm" behind the "hundred" ;)
