  • Not only a great voice with impeccable musicianship but a great person too! I had the privilege of coaching with her a few times at Indiana University when she taught there in the early 70's who could 'tell it like it is', constructively. A deserving prima dona without an ego; a real 'regular person' with a naughty sense of humor & hearty laugh. Perfect pathos in her every inflection - both in pop & opera. 'I've Got A Right to Sing the Blues' album is still the tops & a must have! Miss her.

  • As others have pointed out, Eileen Farrell is one of the few who has mastered both pop/jazz and classical opera. Kiri Te Kanawa is an excellent opera singer, but in her singing of pop/jazz/standards, she ruins the songs- ain't got rhythm.

  • This is the best pop performance I've ever seen by an opera singer. Better than Sills and Fleming. Incredible artist.

  • What an amazing talent!

This is a perfect example of the capabilities of the human voice.

Her voice is so natural...no matter what she decides to sing.

  • A full fledged operatic soprano who could deliver pop songs superbly in a brassy alto voice. I wonder what her octave range was?

  • This is the first time I've heard her singing both the classical and jazz repertoire and I am very impressed -- what a great talent! She was certainly a "natural"!

  • Is it possible that she was an even greater pop singer than an opera singer, which is not to say she wasn't great in opera? Wow does she sing this well.

  • A VOCAL GENIUS. I adore her.

  • Thank your god for hearing this womans unique gift ,how did she do it? Many opera stars have tried to bridge the world of opera and jazz-ballads but most, if not all of them never get it right. This lady does, bigtime
