One of the world's current bestselling authors will be coming to the Twin Cities in early February for a new program started by a Long Lake man.

Terry Esau, author of "Surprise Me" and "Be the Surprise" sent me an e-mail last week announcing that William 'Paul' Young author of "The Shack" will speak on February 7th at 7:30 PM, at the premiere Nudge the World event at Church of the Open Door in Maple Grove, MN. He will be reading, speaking, and then engaging the audience in a Q & A time that promises to be very interesting. The cost is $10 at the door-no advance ticket sales.

Esau said that each of these Nudge the World events will feature various artists musicians, authors, film-makers, poets, dancers who will create elements tailored around a specific concept. They will perform their pieces, then form a panel and allow you, the audience, to ask questions about the themes and ideas presented. All Nudge the World events will be exploring ideas that meet at the intersection of faith, life, and culture.

I will be talking with Terry some time this week for a story for the Feb. 5 Sun-Sailor and also hope to get in touch with Paul Young to talk about his book and being a part of this event.

For those of you that haven't heard of "The Shack" here's a quick rundown:

• It's been #1 on the New York Times best-seller list for Trade Fiction books for 34 consecutive weeks.
• It's #1 in Borders and #1 in Barnes and Noble, outselling Eckhart Tolle's book, "A New Earth," which was an Oprah book club selection.
• Soon to be published in thirty languages.
• A self-published book, now with 3 million in print.
• The top selling book in Australia, Brazil...

• Four students from Wayzata Public Schools have been accepted into the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA) Middle Level Honors Orchestra.

Allysa Larson, eighth grade at West Middle School, seventh graders Anders Cornell from West Middle School and Christine Ko from Central Middle School and ninth grade student Drew Wyffels from Wayzata High School, were accepted into the honors orchestra.

Students prepare audition tapes in the fall and compete with students in grades seven through nine from across the state to be selected for the honors orchestra. The students will have a day-long rehearsal on February 15 in Minneapolis and a performance on February 16 at the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) conference.

• The Orono City Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m.

While the seemingly always-packed planning report is a little light for this meeting, a number of items could come from City Administrator Bill Wells' report.

The council will be looking at adding amendments to both the police sergeants and patrol officers labor agreements for 2009.

The council will also take another look at the plans and specification for the street and utility reconstruction project that is slated to take place later this year.

• Right across the street at the same time, the Orono Board of Education will also meet.

That agenda appears to be quite light, with only two items - some routine personnel items and a change order that will save the district about $3,000 on a project - on the agenda.

• And now for the weather underground.com forecast. A link to weatherunderground.com can be found on our website mnsun.com

For the rest of Monday expect it to be mostly cloudy with highs between 5 and 10 above zero. The clouds will stick around for most of tonight, pushing low temperatures to 5 to 10 below zero.

On Tuesday, it should be mostly sunny with highs around 15 above.
