Today might be just another school day for anyone but its clearly not for Lhunjakorn Ployjearanai, the year 12 senior student of Chalermprakiat Somdet Prasrinakarin Phuket School. He looks a bit tense, due to the up-coming meeting he arranged with his year 12 peers later on. In every meeting, people agree and disagree but the important thing is to clarify and explain precise information and listen to each other, then conclude the result.

Student democracy is very important in students life at schools and universities. It is defined as students power to influence education and students ability to make decisions. This theory, also applies here in Chalermprakiat Somdet Prasrinakarin Phuket School.
In this important meeting, students of year 12 are gathered in groups of 20 students to talk about the new students welcoming activities which they planned on holding on the following weekend.
The chairman of this meeting is Lhunjakorn Ployjearanai who presented guidelines and topics which were discussed later with members on his team.

I am joining the meeting to observe how it goes.
We can clearly see that students in the meeting are lively and smart. They take turns giving out ideas; some may have had difficulty understanding each others point of view but eventually they came to agreement about the activities, schedule and arrangement.
We were impressed with the pro-active group. Students take turn expressing their thorough ideas on how to make the new students welcoming activities worth remembering and fun.
Student 1:
Saran Obsuwan, Secretary to the Chairman, gave comments about how to playfully punish the new students if they fail to complete the fun task.

Student 2:
Thanakit Yooto talked about the game called secret hole.

Student 3:
Waranyoo Suthiphana made a suggestion about the carpet game trick.

Student 4:
And last, Kiara Budelli talked about Dear Banana game.

The main idea of this meeting was to gather ideas for the New Students Welcoming Activities and to also practice for students and help them become confident in giving out speeches both in English and Thai along with practicing them to use the democratic system among the peers and group. They will become such powerful speakers and gather ability to talk bravely, smartly and not be afraid to show whats on their minds.
We talked to the director of Chalermprakiat Somdet Prasrinakarin Phuket School about the imperative of the learning system that the school has been providing and the democratic techniques used at school.

Subtitled: This school recognizes the importance of the democratic system and that it should be applied to the process of studying, classroom and students. Democratic practice is very important in school.
As im observing these students, I learn along with them and do appreciate the democratic ways they apply here. We will see how these New Students Welcoming Activities go.
Saran Obsuwan and Nongnapat Areerob also shared us their definition and understanding of the word democracy.

Lhunjakorn and his peers concluded the result of the meeting and held the New Students Welcoming Activities on Saturday 20th. It went really well with all joys and cheerful noises. Smiles were spotted on every students faces. The successful outcomes of this event were excellent and pleased every senior student who participated in the democratic meeting they held earlier. It truly shows that the kids are well prepared and learn to deal with comments, agreements and debating for better outcomes. This is Zenniesha, reporting for Andaman News.
