That's the problem with politicians these day's, you throw around cost figures in the billions and they become numb to the amounts involved. The average person cannot comprehend how much 100 million is never mind 54 billion! I don't dispute people getting into trouble over mounting medical bills, but what good does easy access to gov't healthcare do if the backlog of patients overcomes the available number of participating Dr.'s? 500 billion $ cut from medicare..
to pay for healthcare reform means lower reimbursment rates for doctors and fewer doctors participating. The 54 billion saved from tort reform is a perfect example of how Democrats want a huge legislative package to bury expensive entitlements and other special interest perks. They're not into saving real taxpayer citizen's money but would rather cater to legal anti-tort reform lobbyist. Democrats & Rebublicans alike could care less about folks loosing their homes to health costs!
