  • @longfootbuddy I would like to know who is responsible for brainwashing you, clearly they have done an excellent job. I could tout facts, statistics, and studies showing the benefit of having an educated population, but you seem like the type of troll that stuff just bounces off. Lets try a different approach. You don't want to pay taxes, fine pick a country that doesn't have a tax system. The ones that don't have income have VAT. Ask yourself, what kind of freedom will I find in those countries

  • @retsaoter you can try to justify theft by pretending that teachers care about theyr students, but the fact is, teachers care about theyr jobs, not the education of kids...and again, even if they are great teachers, it doesnt justify forcing people to pay for someone elses kid... most americans think just like you.. theyve lost sight of what it means to be free , and have turned to the system of democracy to justify treating the people like slaves for the betterment of the majority and community

  • @longfootbuddy You have it backwards; teachers are kind enough to teach your ass for 12 years while you grow up. It is only fair now that you are an productive adult, that can read and (almost) write, that you pay them back.

  • I agree thom, merit pay is silly.

How do you feel about increased licensing standards. Raising licensing standards in the past has show to have a positive effect on student achievement. What do think about creating standards closer to doctors or lawyers. e.g. competitive grad school, ama and BAR type exams. This would help to attract more intelligent teachers. I hope one day dumb jocks (you know the ones) will no longer be teaching civics to our youth. I would greatly appreciate your opinion.

  • The American education system is a flawed system. Thom is right about that.

  • I do not think that that the left is helping by wanting to bulk up the current system. But you are right about the right.

  • Excellent. It is truly wonderful to hear a radio broadcast on education given by an intelligent person with a sound understanding of education. Good one Thomas.

  • I believe he's blaming the extreme right wing. In Australia it is the same. The far right push private education and religious based education at the expense of public education.

  • Is he blaming republicans for public education?
