After discoveries, Music Literature has now attributed this composition to Sacrati,
one of Monteverdi's contemporaries.

Three days shy of seven months later, and I am still amazed by this piece of music. I touches my soul so gently, while rubbing against my heart, I feel as if someone has kissed my internal scars with all the light, gentleness, care and love, that they could humanly muster. As if an archangel has embraced me, into a different realm of Being. A different perception, of Existing.

So tranquil and beautiful.

This is so beautiful and comforting. I was searching for classical music to ease my soul with the loss of my great great uncle. Thank you. <3 For uploading this video.

PUR TI MIRO Pur ti godo, pur ti stringo, pur t’annodo. Più non peno, più non moro, o mia vita, o mio tesoro. Io son tua, tuo son io, speme mia, dillo dì, tu sei pur l’idol mio, sì mio ben, sì mio cor, mia vita sì

Very pretty. Love the pure voices, though they are going at a painstakingly slow pace. I was surprised that on the part that my music was marked to be a faster tempo, they actually slowed down even further.

Well, he did right quite a few Operas, numerically more than Monteverdi, with amongst them one of the candidates to "First Opera Ever".
BTW, sublime music and what a nice painting!

I'm not sure I would say it is a wrong performance. Other scholars have come after to bring us closer to what Monteverdi and his contemporaries heard, but as you say, when you have those 2 monsters singing like this, who cares?

C'est très beau merci pour avoir mis cette version mais question de goût , je prèfère la version Rial/Jaroussky , légère, aérienne , viviante .

Thanks! I have the replica portrait of this at my home and always wondered about its name and artist.
This final duet is not by Monteverdi and his librettist but an later addition, probably by Benedetto Ferrari. That's why it seems so out of place.
