The plane was en route from Chicago to a campaign event in Charlotte.SOT: Reporter --- Had you ever had to make an unscheduled stop in your charter?SOT: Obama -- "This is a first"Officials say an emergency slide in the plane's tail deployed in flight....making it difficult for the pilot to keep the aircraft level.The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating why the device deployed.Investigators say the pilot did not declare an emergency, but rather requested a diversion for mechanical issues. As for Obama, he seemed un-fazed by the hassle ... SOT: ObamaObama and his staff sat on the plane for over an hour while the plane was being checked out.... @rashidwa Air Force one is the call sign of ANY US military aircraft which carries the President. Marine one is for the helicopter carrying the President. Thats why he's not on Air Force One.
