It is one of the previously unreleased tracks on the box set 'Jake in a Box'. It was recorded by Jake in the late sixties and obviously was not a song he or his producer rated, hence it stayed in the can for almost 40 years.

thanks very much i always feel a bit funny buying greatest hits type compilations cos it eems like the kinda thing you would do with Queen but not an artist you really love but i will have a look for it cos this track sounds great.
and i should also say i love your covers i am going to try and watch you when i get a chance but i am young and london based and without convinient travel arrangements but soon hopefully...

The good news is that 'Jake in a Box' is not a greatest hits compilation, but a 4 CD set containing all Jake's studio albums, in order, plus a host of unreleased tracks. Some of these extra tracks are as good as anything released in his lifetime.
Thanks for the feedback on the cover versions. Keep checking the Jake Thackray website for gigs: we tend to do more in the north than the south, but if a venue can be found would happily come down to London.

We have not got as far north as Durham yet, but would certainly consider doing a gig at Durham uni if we could have help with local contacts. We do a fair number of gigs in Yorkshire, including York itself, so that could be a good bet.

If you don't already use it, can I suggest you go to the internet site Spotify? It is a music sharing facility on the internet. It gives immediate and free access to material by a massive range of artists, and it has a lot of Thackray on it. Just google 'Spotify', sign up and download the software, and away you go!
