Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper & Alvin Lee on Chip Monk's "SpeakEasy", a late 70s tv show. Bloomfield eats fire (literally) and the Electric Flag tours again !! Bloomfield & Kooper trade off piano & guitar, Alvin stays on guitar

  • Wish I'd been old enough to see this

when it followed SNL on Ch. 4 at 1am

    back in the day.

  • Yes, it was a good show. I watched it and recorded the audio. No video for the non professional at the time. It was something to watch Bloomfield take over the show and actually eat fire at the end. Great stuff. The other shows were great also, I am hoping the video will appear someday.

  • I knew Buzzy when he was like 18 years old and played with Butterfield already, he had a black ES and he took it out to the heavens, played incredibly even then, with Rod Hicks on Bass who played for Aretha on Respect and Ray Charles, Dave Sanborn, that band was incredible..Steve Mideao (sp?) who later played for Stevie Wonder Very Superstitious just the best..

  • The Butter Band with Buzz is great stuff. So far there are 3 tunes around on video of that band at Woodstock, Buzz plays some great solos.

  • I saw this showed when it first aired live still remember it, at the end Mike and Alvin jammed and Michal gave Alvin a guitar lesson and Alvin Lee was no chump but Michael was always in his own league...

  • Yep, Michael was something special. When I saw this show, I realized it's in your fingers, not equipment. MB took Alvin's guitar and it sounded great, not that dark tone that Alvin had. SpeakEasy was a great show with a lot of interseting guest, Grace Slick for one.

  • speak easy opened my mind to a whole new world of artists.it was a superb show.Chip Monck is a rock legend.woodstock emcee, worked for the Stones...wow.

  • One thing I remember from watching this when it aired was that Mike and Al jammed at one point with Al on guitar and Mike on piano.

  • I join in with other voices hoping that Speakeasy gets posted.

I caught many of the shows in the day, including this one.

I regret that I joined the episode late with a "glammed out Eno."

    Fond memories of this show.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Great stuff from when the hair was long and the balls where big!!!

  • for live bloomfield try wine, the electric flag

  • If if was only about a dozen shows, that DVD set has to surface one of these days....! There's a DVD I woudn't mind

    firing up at 1AM!

  • Buzzy's solo on Where did my Baby Go is something every guitar player should hear and learn from, and I saw him do it live many times and it just got better and better...Butter loved it when Buzzy went out like that...
