@silverbud I have to agree with mramosgoldengirl... I don't have the score in front of me but I checked a few other recordings, and they had different chords in those spots. I've played this myself in the past, and those chords sound odd to me too.
Wow! I'm doing a report on the Song Cycle and I love this song because it's so emotional. I'm listening to this for reference and you're helping me with my report! Thanks!
Wow! what would make it even better than improving diction would be the study of William Vennard's "Developing Voices: From the Studio of William Vennard." There is a Mezzo on there who's name is Mary Alice, and she sings this song and Vennard helps to make is perfect. Totally worth the listen.
Bad part is that this recording is only on LP Disc.
Indeed, a wonderful effort! The only part of your diction that really stuck during the performance was the need for glottal stops, but otherwise it is a wonderful cycle for you to be choosing to grace with your talents!
ineine1, thank you for your comment~i appreciate it and, yes, my german diction needs improvement. i will be devoting time to study and get better at that-thanks for the encouragement-

@mramosgoldengirl
The chords were perfectly right.
Don't get spoilt by simple modern music. ;-)

Very lovely, but I'm pretty sure the pianist played some wrong chords at 0:48 and 0:58....little too major sounding. But great overall.

A wonderful performance, and a refreshing, honest portrayal of a timeless and universal emotion...I'd love to see and hear more. All the best!

Beautiful voice indeed, also beautifully performed....(both singer and pianist). A little more study of the german accent would make it perfect.
