  • Excellent - explains how an oldhap coupling takes up axial misalignment perfectly - though I doubt you wouldd get away with as much misalignment in real life!!!

  • Well, I made this video because I saw the sketches in a book and I thought "this would never work!" And then it worked!

    But I believe this solution is not applied nowadays. This is one of the solutions made a long time ago (almost in a galaxy far away) and in specific cases.

    I'm an engineer and I have designed several machines using Oldham couplings and their variants.

    They're normally used to compensate for very small manufacturing tolerances both linear and angular between an electric motor and the device or mechanism it's driving.
