@brent4023 That mat not be the best idea. If your dog jerks while you are snipping you can easily cut it. It's usually best to gently brush a small mat out with a slicker and comb. If it gets to the point where you can't brush it out, then it's time for a trip to the groomers.

That's the matted hair that we had to shave off. He was neglected for so long that his hair grew and tangled so much that it looked like that.
