  • @RedDesertViolin i dont know ...maybe, i see a black line in your skin of your left hand just over the bones between your fingers and your palm all the time ..maybe its from some marker accidently painted your hand dont know lol i m sorry ..its just i was curious cause i see it all the time . anyways great job and advices for the shoulder rest ..i just order a super for my viola your instructions are really helpful !

  • I LOVE YouTube. Thanks so much! I am completely sorted now.

  • @tapariayogesh Tapariayogesh--teachers sometimes overlook the basics, they miss the forest for the trees! Anyway, your summary above sounds exactly right. The shoulder rest should follow the contour of your shoulder, neck should NOT have to strain....just the relaxed weight of your head should be enough to counter the weight of the violin. Keep up the good work! --Lora

  • @tapariayogesh continued from above..

    c) The violin is now nearly horizontal (close to parallel) to the ground.

    d) Both the clamps of the chinrest are not located at the widest section of the violin. The thick side clamp is, but the skinny one only comes down as much.

Thank you Lori. I have found most of the videos to be EXTREMELY helpful, they have made the best sound to draw from the violin effortless. (I am a beginner like most others here)
