Shooting dear is worse than a bobcat, which goes on a damned warpath and kills more shit double it's size than you can an imagine. If you think about it, when the economy goes bad, and people end up having to get food the way it should be gotten, it won't really matter where or how you kill what your going to be eating for dinner. Besides, as long as they aren't just killing animals for fun, and actually eating then, why does it really matter how it died? Maybe he didn't even aim for the head, and still got in the head?
