"Another World" -Dylan Rooke

The G-20 summit is coming to Pittsburgh, PA September 24th and 25th 2009. there's a lot of potential for this event to cause turmoil within this city due to the fact that there'll be a lot of protesting in our city streets. the city is preparing for the worst and matching the concern with thousands of cops and armed military force. the possibility for violent clashes in our streets is very real, and it is striking fear into the lives of those who live here. i want to be an advocate for peace amidst the threat of violence. it takes real courage to stand for peace and justice against a system that pushes the poor and less fortunate aside while focusing on self-interest. to react in violence may grab some media attention, but it only furthers the cycle of fear and control. if you believe the G-20 can brighten the future for tomorrow by passing and following through with the proper legislation, than encourage those things and discourage the things that only profit the most industrialized and powerful nations who pick and choose who has and who has not. if you believe that the G-20 is part of the reason injustice continues to thrive, please don't fight fire with fire. make a stand for peace; immediate attention may not always be seen, but the message will shake even the foundations of those on the other side, while violence will just encourage they're means of control. true courage lies in those who will stand peacefully among the violence that surrounds them.
