Mr Adley I don't think you did answer the question? If you are condoning the use of a waste food bin on a kitchen worksurface or a window sill in your capacity as an officer of the council then I am shocked. Using this product in this manner will simply transfer bacteria causing a massive hazard to peoples health. You might as well be advising them to have lighted candles next to their curtains?

Thank you for your comment. The small kitchen caddy is provided for the temporary collection of food waste before moving it to the outside bin. The caddy should be emptied regularly and kept clean. There is no reason to suggest there is a risk to food safety.

Mr Adley, I can only assume you have a spacious house or garden, unfortunately the bin is too large to fit in a kitchen cupboard, my kitchen is very small and the only floor space is in front of the door into and out of the kitchen. The possibility of leaving the bin in the front garden will only result in it being stolen or thrown through my front window. I am sure I am not the only person who feels that the council have failed to consult with people on an individual basis regarding this.

Hi, I am glad I answered your concerns about where the food waste goes!
It will be collected separately, recycled and composted locally and then used by local farmers to grow more food.
We haven't delivered all the kitchen caddies and bins yet so perhaps you haven't received yours?
The caddies will easily fit on a work top or perhaps a windowsill.
Either way if you would you like to talk through your concerns please give me a call.

I don't have room for a caddy and have no intention if keeping it outside of my house, I shall be depositing any uncollected waste outside the borough council offices, sans caddy.... Do the council not think we have better things to do? It all goes into the same lorry after all....

Sorry to read your comments, specially:
- as the outside bin is only 23 litre and really quite small and manageable
- all the food waste is collected in a separate lorry
- all the food waste is recycled into compost at Blaise Farm in West Malling
