David Gilmour never wrote or recorded a solo for this song. Snowy wrote the solo, played the solo on the 8-track version and always played the solo live. Gilmour had nothing to do with it.

I hope someone finds Gilmours solo before I die. It sounds like Snowy heard Davids solo
and played it similarly to his, but not quite right.

That for sure is not Gilmour, he is much more melodic that this solo, I suspect this is Snowy on a Gibson

This solo sounds like a Snowy White solo. It's his characteristic fast style with lots of hammer-ons and pull-offs.

all the american leg but ive not heard a european show from the tour so not sure if they played it like this from the start

on the recording its snowy white, but i read that gilmour wrote the solo but it got lost in the studio
live roger plays acustic guitar, so i think gilmour plays the solo. i think there might be some bass live so i think its snowy white

I'm pretty sure they played this version live during the '77 tour. I don't think Gilmour is playing the solo, as I believe it was Snowy White. This version is from the 8-track version of the album.
