CLASSIC FREDDIE! This is from 1962 with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The rest of the band is Wayne Shorter, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton, and Reggie Workman. Freddie was just 24 here, and plays his ass off!

I was just 20 when I saw this band and had a chance to hang with the musicians afterward. I had the chance to meet them quite a few times since then and do not want to miss a second of this apotheosis.
